A saltwater chlorination process produces silky-smooth, clean, and clear water. Natural sanitization methods such as salt chlorination are an alternative to harsh chemical disinfectants. In addition to being healthy, salt water has fewer chloramines produced, thus eliminating the harsh chemical smell. It is essential to produce chlorine when salt water pools are to remain clean, free of bacteria and chloramines, and safe for swimming. 

Through the use of electrodes and a salt electrolysis technique, chlorine is produced in a unique cell. The swimming pool's water must have a salt concentration of 3,000 ppm in order for a salt chlorine generator to work.

Using self-cleaning salt electrolysis systems, the Astral Pool Smart Next chlorinator is made with optional automatic pH and ORP control for use in residential pools up to 100 m3.
