Main drains are a vital part of an inground swimming pool's drainage circulation system. In the pool's deep portion, drains ensure flow, assuring water cleanliness, optimum chemical distribution, and keeping a steady temperature of the water throughout the pool.

The pool water flows into the pump and filter through the main drain. The deepest area of the pool's bottom holds the location of the main drain. A smaller pool may only have one main drain, while larger pools may have several.

AstralPool stainless steel main drain ensures full recycling. We manufacture all of our drain grilles according to current regulations stating, slots should be no wider than 8 mm across.

A selection of fiberglass and polyester resin main drains. Manufacture from ABS plastic grill with a gelcoat finish and UV rays resistant. Hydrostatic valve is an option (code 27138)

Recommendations:

• In order to ensure safety, each pool should have 2 main drains and a minimum of a 2 m. gap between each.
• Water flowing through the grille should not exceed 0.5 m/s, as stipulated in EN-13451.
• Your main drain should be connected to a hydrostatic valve and drainage tube to reduce pressure caused by underground water courses.
